but they have metal detectors sometimes. although the last time I went, it didnt even beep at my swiss army knife, and I carry a pretty big swiss army knife.

I like a lot of the techno cumbia, stuff like Zizek- and they play at a variety of clubs, but Niceto most often.

you really need to track specific bands and djs, and go to their facebook or myspace pages, to find out who is playing where- I have seen cumbia hybrids at a lot of different spaces around town.

Havent been out there, but my guess is its mostly cumbia villera- which is kinda rap oriented cumbia.

If you like rap/cumbia hybrids, I highly recommend Villa Diamante- He's a DJ and he plays clubs, but records a lot too.
