Current Prices for English classes?

Star Lucia is right, I think most of the Argentines that want to learn / improve their english (whether it be for work, travel) can afford it and its about priorities.

Citygirl, I pay (well my work pays) my Spanish teacher 100 pesos an hour. Shes very good and well qualified. Understand thats about the going rate these days, so I imagine for an experienced, qualified native english teacher you could charge about the same?

I will remain adamant that you should not overcharge. I´m telling you right now, through experience, not many people are going to agree to 100 or more pesos an hour unless like that one dude, they are high stay-tus business dudes, and even then, they probably won´t hire someone that doesn´t have a boss resume.

50 pesos an hour, native, qualified (you can lie), good attitude and nice...the word will spread, and you will get more students, you will KEEP students, and they might even pay you in advance for the lessons. For that price you can even convince people to come to YOU for the lessons, which actually makes the price worth it.

Id rather have 5 students a day for 250 pesos total than 3 students once a week for 100 pesos. Then later on you can up the price, if stuff gets competetive. A word of advice, only listen to the people who have current experience in this, not those who heard through the grapevine or whose girlfriends´ sisters´ friends´ aunt´s neighbor´s cousin in law does this and that. That wasn´t a jab at anyone in this post at all, just in general, only listen to those who have real experience.

I think lying about your qualifications would be pretty poor form.
