Hi,

I have heard a lot of bad mouthing about the cycling in BA, but after a few days riding around the bike ways I have been somewhat impressed. I have come from a low base after cycling amongst fast heavy traffic in my home city that has very little cycle infrastructure.

I wanted to share some things I have found:

- This is the official bikeway map produced the BA Local Government

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...ll=-34.600174,-58.421652&spn=0.194931,0.16296

- This is an unofficial bikeway map that has been loaded on to google maps

(If you have a smart phone with GPS this can be very useful while riding around town)

- This is a cycle advocate group who have a bunch of useful resources.

I agree with you Dave. With a little aggression and quick reflexes, a bicycle is the best form of transport in the city if you're traveling >3km. Hopefully the ciclovías will expand more rapidly and people will learn to stop parking/dumping dirt in them. This city could be the next Amsterdam!

I've seen a lot of upscale folk on bicycles, recently. Yes, BA is getting to be the next Amsterdam. They're starting to build wind mills, a lot of people in trendy Palermo Hollywood are wearing wooden shoes. What could be next? Edam cheese and tulips?
Dutch treats?
