The probable success of today’s virtually general strike should not be taken as a measure of its moral and social legitimacy. That success was ensured from the beginning of a stoppage originating as a transport union protest since this enforces the inactivity of all other sectors (as was evident last April when the industrial unions were clearly supportive of the government but factories were nevertheless crippled).
