How many dollars are tourists allowed to bring with them to Argentina, and do they have to list them on the customs form if it is under that amount?

Up to 9999usd and you do not have to list or declare that anywhere.

Does anyone know if using Western Union (multiple times) or legal crypto shop (reporting to AFIP) subtracts from this limit?
Would AFIP / ARCA eventually get alerted?

Permatouridt and I use WU to pay my landlord and get cash every month. Never ran into any issues (so far, fingers crossed)

WU only allow you to transfer max up to 5K per transaction. As far as for pesos, I've done more than 10K in 7 months, not a single problem so far.
Probably your bank might ask you something to confirm the transaction than ARCA does.

ARCA works by tracking income associated with your CUIT. If you don't have a CUIT, then you most likely aren't being tracked.

You know, I have a CDI, I don't know if it applies the same way. I had to get it, to buy car or property without DNI.

Does anyone know whether there would be tax consequences for bringing in more than USD10,000 as a tourist (if later becoming resident)?
Or is it more of a matter of simple declaration for national reporting purposes?
Can you point me to a specific piece of legislation?
