Depressed That Your Friends Have No Money?

Most of my friends here are sadly allergic to work, even if I line up an opportunity for them, they find some reason they are too good for it or they flake out on it. They also get offended if I'm too tired or busy working to recieve them at my house at all hours or party all night. I have few acquaintances who work a lot but those folks don't have time to cultivate friendships in the first place.

Do you ever get depressed that your Argentine friends have no money to do anything - travel, eat in a nice restaurant etc? Or maybe you are the same situation? Do the economic limitations of the people around you affect your quality of life?

Yes! It was horrible! Them not having money to go to bars means that we spent a lot of time at home, drinking liters of Quilmes and doing the things that bored people with no money do like playing music and talking. The awful side effect is that my guitar skills improved and I can almost sing in Spanish.

Our close friends don't have a lot of extra $ right now, no problem, we still love to see each other. We invite each other over for dinner. I love to cook, my friend loves to cook. We have a great time together, and cooking at home is really inexpensive.

If you think you and your friends need money to have a good time then you ain't never lived in the country with the poor folk. Fish fry's and all-night music and dancing don't cost nothing! We caught our own fish and made our own music (and moonshine).

"Eudora! Come help me move da furniture out da way. Ever'body's coming fo dinner!"

I do miss those days!

:)
