Interesting comments and good to hear positive comments. What I was getting at was whether expats feel bad that THEY (expats) often have a lot more money than local people.

There are a lot of expats that live VERy frugally, very, very frugally. The fact that expats are in general wealthy and locals poor, is a myth in my modest opinion.

I think that it is so common to not have much extra money here that it is accepted as a normal part of life. I don't believe that it is seen as something tragic as long as one has enough to eat and cover the basics. My wife's family never had an extra centavo, but they never complained that they couldn't afford any luxuries.

Many locals ask me "hey do you earn in dollars? how much every month? Where do you keep it?"" etc etc

While it is true that many Argentine think that just because you are an expat you make a lot of dollars, one thing to note is that talking about one´s income is not taboo as it is in the US.
