Hello!
Would anyone know if it’s possible as a UK expat to divorce here in Argentina even if the marriage took place in the UK?
My husband and I amicably separated in 2005 while we were travelling in South America. He stayed in Colombia and I eventually settled here.
He’s originally from Germany and has recently moved back there. As we want to marry our long-term partners we want to finally file for divorce. However, we’ve recently found out that although we got married in the UK, we can’t divorce there because my domicile is no longer England (as I have permanent residency here).
We have found out that we can get divorced in Germany even though we were married in the UK but it’s an extremely expensive process so I’m trying to find out if I can do it here.
Has anyone had this experience or know anyone who has? Or if anyone knows a divorce lawyer who specialises in expat divorces who may be able to help me that would be great too.
Thanks!
