DNI with rentista visa

I got my turno online through the system that doesn't seem to be working now. But according to this page you don't really need one. (It is also where I found out about not needing to bring photos.)http://www.migraciones.gov.ar/accesible/?dni_extranjeros

I definitely went to the Hipolito Yrigoyen 952 location. It is on the ground floor. Just show up between 8 a.m. and 2p.m. Here the relevant part of the page:

This is great information, especially if it means that foreigners can now apply for thier DNI without going to Puerto Madero.

Has anyone obtained a DNI with a embassy given rentista visa.

I have just got a new rentista visa, obtained it in NZ at arg embassy. The consul advised me to get the DNI as it will help when/if i apply for permanent residency.

I have a white envolope with from embassy with "con destino a la oficina seccional identificatoria" typed on it which i think is for this.

Has anyone recently done this or knows the process i have to go through.

I have read alot of threads on here about DNI's, but no mention of the envolope !!

I am starting the process fo applying for a Rentista Visa from the Argentinian Embassy in Wellington.
