If you are coming for a long time, I recommend renting something for a month (or less) so you have a place, but don´t commit longer than that from abroad. You might find that you prefer a different neighborhood or a different type of apartment.

Ditto! We signed a contract for 4 months and are quite miserable and can't get out of it! Also when we arrived they wanted us to pay the entire stay upfront. We said "NO thank you" and they were ok with that.
