This comment is probably not needed and can be deleted but I just don't understand what the hell is an argentine doing in an expats forum and worst yet, taking the contrary against everyone.
It seems Lucas has serious xenophobia issues that he should address before speaking his mind out in a place where clearly its all about foreigners points of view and not looking for a local to clear them out.
Just a thought.
It's a bit acrobatic to say "
Lucas has serious xenophobia issues" & "
what the hell is an argentine doing in an expats forum".
An easy answer with the same tone would be: why the hell does someone expat himself if he/she's not curious about cultural differences.
As for "taking the contrary against everyone", I have a slightly different approach.
-First, if there is indeed a main stream on the forum, there also are expats sharing some of Lucas opinions.
-Second, you might be taking the problem by the wrong end: it might indeed be the forum's main stream which is against everyone (everyone: the majority of Argentineans, the "54%"). You have to realize that it's very likely that this forum is viewed on a daily basis by 20/30/40/50 (?) silent Argentineans.
So we can at least credit Argentina for being an highly democratic country in some aspects: imagine a similar expat forum in the US or in a very rightist country like France where the expats would exchange tips about playing with the migration rules, complaining loudly about the local politics (while many of those expats won't be paying taxes) and even insulting the local President (some trolls have done that on this forum) --> those expats would soon be in the plane believe me.
That being said, I agree that we should all be alert about xenophobia (it's an expat forum) & it's a vast subject (where does it start?).
At worst, if you feel attacked by Lucas posts, you can use the Ignore function. That way, you'll read only messages going your way.
Overall, I think the forum is quite tolerant in every way & it's good the way it goes. Of course, you'll find people not liking other people coming from this or this country but that's also part of any community (not that all those people would be xenophobic/racist: I guess that in any given population you'll have a constant 5% of really racist people, others might joing in but it's rather due to sourness, loneliness, lack of cues, lack of tolerance, etc.).
Tolerance is the key!
