Economic Freedom Index: Argentina Ranks 166 Of 186 Countries

I'm sure the liberty loving loonies at the Heritage Foundation were just "out to get" Argentina and the index is totally biased to accomplish their evil purpose of discrediting socialism.

Nice sarcasm over there. Yet, I'm pretty sure that organism would love Argentina to go back to the 90s. Ask any Argentine, middle or lower class, if they would like to go back to that time. Even with the freedom of buying 1 dollar for 1 peso the majority would say now way.

Adrian, do some research, think a little. It's not the one or the other, there's in between. You don't want this kind of isolationism, ever. It's a horrible policy. No one is saying you have to go back to the years y'all dread here. Those were as bad as this. You want some middle of the ground policy in which people have ways to invest in Argentina without getting raped. It's such an obtuse view to think that there are only two choices. There are hundreds of different combinations, out of those a couple dozen would be great for your country.

Have you tried to have ANYTHING shipped to you from abroad Adrian?

yes. The last time was in December. I bought some clothes from aliexpress and I received everything without paying one peso to customs. The only drawback was that I had to go to the post office to pick it up.

And Chile is at number 7.

I've never been to Chile but I've read the gap between rich and poor was huge. The highest in Latin America. Way to go Chile!

Adrian, it's easier to correct the difference between top and bottom incomes when you're actually favoring economic growth based on productivity. I agree that voracious free market economies that don't go through the trouble of correcting income inequalities can be awful, you have two consider what's better: Do you want to create equality by just ripping everything apart and splitting what's left while forgetting that creation of wealth is more important than it's distribution. What are you going to give to the poor once there's no wealth creation? You don't create equality by making EVERYONE poor, you create equality by favoring things that will boost your economy while taking care of social issues and taking care of the most vulnerable. It's a slow process. The problem is that people want what they want and they want instant results. That's just not realistic.

Look, I don't support this government, I'm not saying things are fine in this country, and I totally agree with what you said. I just stated two things:

1. No way Argentina is 166 at anything. Do you really think that? Tell me yes or no.
2. According to that article, Argentina during the 90s was "mostly free" making it look like a good thing. If I had to pick between the 90s and now (no inbetweens) because the article is making that comparison, I definitely pick now.

Well, when you put it that way, what you said makes more sense. Thank you for explaining. Now do I think it's 166? I really don't know, people who make these rankings must be some of the people who Argentina owes money to. I think it might be a little exaggerated. I think that in any case Argentina must be in the bottom 20% though.

Now we understand each other. Now, I'm going to work. Perhaps if I go from poor to rich Argentina can climb up one spot. Bye!
