Expropriation of YPF - What's next?

Cristina can certainly do what she wants, so if she wants to offer "casas para todos!", who's going to stop her from usurping "empty" properties or those of foreign owners who don't meet the ever changing requirements?

Didn't they already put a limit on what percentage of land can be owned by foreigners? There's quite a bit of foreign investment here and they've already been looking at it.

As a foreigner, I wouldn't buy property here. No way... not in this climate.

As for UE not being Spain... it's not. And I don't expect them to do much but say a few words, but you don't think foreign companies aren't looking at this and asking themselves if this isn't going to be a problem for them in the future? Not just the risk of a takeover, but also the difficulty of doing business in Argentina and dealing with the schizophrenic government... and now a questionable energy future. :p

We'll see how this pans out. I don't expect a great success story... but I'm sure quite a few crooked politicians are going to get their pockets lined. ;)

how are previous posters defining "foreigner"?
Only those that are non-argentine citizens? Or would legal residency (temporary or permanent) qualify as becoming exempt from these hypothetical restrictions coming our way?
