Who was the bad guy?

A military dictatorship that was torturing and killing it’s own people or people who were up until this point living a peaceful existence on an island they’d occupied for at least as long as Argentina has existed as a country.

Don't know much about it to be honest. But was impressed that Argentina had an aircraft carrier. Not many countries have it. That video I posted is from a military strategy type of channel. Typically they don't go much into the other details of the event.

Fact check says you are mistaken.
That aside, yeah. There was no justification for the dictadura to invade the Malvinas. It was a stupid thing to do.

But I would never dare say that in front of any Argentino. These people are totally off the hook on that subject. It's like waving a red flag in front of a bull, or mentioning Chicago Deep Dish Pizza to someone from New York City.

The Veinticinco de Mayo was actually Argentina's SECOND aircraft carrier. The first one was the Independencia, which was retired in the 1970s. The Independencia was acquired back in the 1950s when Argentina was hell bent in becoming the ultimate military power in the Southern Hemisphere. The acquisition of the carrier helped make the case to move the Brazilian capital from coastal Rio de Janeiro to deeper inland. Brazil also responded by acquiring its own aircraft carrier, the Minas Gerais.

Ironically, all three aircraft carriers were pretty much identical World War II era British vessels.

Anyways, back to the Veinticinco de Mayo, it saw very little action during the war. The Argentinian Navy, already reluctant to take part in a war that it had not been consulted on, pulled itself completely out of the conflict after the sinking of the General Belgrano by the British submarine HMS Conqueror. From that point on, it was up to the Argentina's Army and Air Force (the ones who wanted and planned for the conflict) to fight the remaining of the war, as the navy had decided hat it wanted no part in it.

The Southern Unpleasantness of 1982 was never about the Falklanders right of self determination, as the Brits claimed,nor about sovereignty as we argies were led to believe.
No one single individual deserved what happenend. A few deserved capital punishment for what they did.
No reasonable argentinian adult will agree that we should add the falklanders to our population. Or make them as miserable as we are.
Common citizen has nothing to gain from having a few islands waving our flag.
The unspoken truth in this painful fiasco is and remains that the UK was defending its own selfish interests a viable presence in the area, unsustainable otherwise, in view of a future exploitation of the huge resources in the area. They might not be cheap to harvest now but the Antartic continent (land under the ice) is rich, the seas are rich (ask the chinese fishboats) and the sea bed is also rich and unexploited/able at present.
This truth revealed would have gathered little or no support from the people, the other crap did.
