I'm based in the US with my wife, both on green cards. She's a Mercosur citizen, while due to my citizenship I need a tourist visa for Argentina. My in-laws are newly naturalized Argentinian citizens via the Mercosur route. As we plan to frequently visit Argentina and perhaps maintain a holiday residence in CABA, I'd obviously like to avoid the repetitive visa application and its $150 fee.
Before entertaining other paths like Rentista, can anyone advise if I can potentially leverage my wife's family ties for AR residency? For example, would my wife, using a family unification visa based on her parents, become a permanent resident and subsequently be able to sponsor me for the same visa?
Additionally, could she (or I, by implication) ever gain Argentine citizenship before we decide to primarily reside in Argentina? Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!
