French sports chain Decathlon to open 20 stores in Argentina

I'm happy for competition, but I'm surprised to find that people actually like Decathlon.

The quality of the goods is very poor. Maybe the shoes work for a Sunday stroll, but they'll wear out after a month of exercise. You'll find used Quechua stuff in good condition, but that's because its the brand of choice for people who go hiking once every 5 years.

Genuinely did not know that people go there on purpose. I always assumed it was a place people go when they have no choice or no clue.
I shop at Decathlon often. Their stuff is not cheap at all. That’s what I was thinking tho. I got my snowboard boots from them still going strong after 3 years using 20 days a year. I bought a snowboard jacket to wear while riding my Vespa in London when it’s raining and it’s almost everyday and still wear it after 3 years. Tennis shorts, raincoats. None of their stuff failed me.

Here's a run-down of the possible investments and expansions in the retail sector here: "One by one, which are the international brands that are preparing their arrival in Argentina?"

Maybe it's a positive sign, but in the grand scheme of things it's very small beer.

Pizza Hut is going to hurl itself against the wall one more time? will they never learn?
And in a city with most likely more lingerie stores per capita than any other on earth, Victoria's Secret? Seriously?

The cadenas that have succeeded are almost all homegrown, with argentine money and argentine management and insider connections-
Kentucky, Mostaza, Havanna, El Jevi, Cuspides, Suaya, Farmacity and so on.
Argentines will definitely shop at chains, but they want fugazetta and alfajores.

They need competition here of every type! It's a good cheap brand with a few reasonable items that aren't cheap.
