Getting a US passport renewal was easy and quick!

I followed the instructions online from the embassy. I delivered the completed package to the embassy as instructed without an appointment. They examined what I gave them when I was there at the embassy and I left. Two weeks later I received an email saying it was completed and I'd be receiving 3 packages in the next 2 weeks...I actually received one package with all three documents inside within 4 days! The 3 items that I received were: my new passport...my new passport card...my old old passport with my old passport card.
So, it took 2 and a half weeks from start to finish... fantastic! Yes, I understand that's actually 4 items...but to the State Department your old passport and old passport card are sent in one package...they consider it one item.
P.S. You give the embassy in your application packet a prepaid waybill from DHL...the embassy collects all the items in Argentina and then sends them to you in the DHL package. You cannot go to the embassy and pick them up.

I chose to go there to give it to them so they could look the stuff over and tell me if anything was wrong instead of mailing it in...

Very fast, however when you hand over the documents, in order, did you get a receipt?

No Rich, I just trusted the Embassy officer I handed them to...just like I would have trusted the DHL staff I otherwise would have handed them to... getting a receipt from the DHL staff does not say what was in the package either. The only thing DHL does is deliver the exact same package to the US embassy....you just save a step going there yourself.
