Hey everyone,

Maybe some expats have had experience in this. Can anyone tell me how much roughly a flight would roughly cost from Buenos Aires (or Santiago possibly?) to Auckland New Zealand?....Looking for an open ended return or at least for the return to be set for 6 months after with an option to bring it forward (basically a flexible ticket) Cheapest Ive found at the moment is just for a ONE WAY and that is coming in at nearly 900 GBP ($USD 1,300!)...would be willing to get a one way if it came out much cheaper as I dont think id have a problem not having a return when landing in NZ as I am British and will be applying for the 2 year work visa on arrival with the intention of staying to live in NZ (only heading back to Sout America on the return for holidays)..
Looking to go anytime 1 week after today, and would be willing to wait a few weeks if the ticket was so much more cheaper...Can anyone recomend any sites, Prices etc?

May thanks for anyone who posts any advice what so ever!...would be greatly appreciated!

A quick furtle around on despegar.com.ar comes up with the same USD1300 single fare but, by picking a random date in the future to come back again, a RETURN fare of around USD1100. Try teasing some dates in and out of despegar or similar engines and see what happens. And you could also try a phone call to some of the more specialised travel agents in the UK like Trailfinders and Journey Latin America and see what they can come up with. I used to know someone in Patagonia who booked all their flights from Argentina via JLA: even though they couldn't get the extra discounts that come from buying tickets in the country of departure, the prices they got still beat the prices they could find locally for themselves.

hey
I´m a kiwi living in BS AS. Bought my return ticket home (for december) back in June when the sales were on. Don´t think you can get anything supercheap right now. But if you need contacts or even a place to stay in central Auckland when u get there, hit me up!

Hola!
Well the quickest way to Auckland is to fly LAN Chile from Argentina to Santiago de Chile and then to Auckland. Not sure about Travel agents in BA but look at this site - its a New Zealand site www.hot.co.nz - good luck - I love Buenos Aires!
ciao

Tickets are much cheaper when purchasing a return fare TO Buenos Aires rather than FROM, that's part of the interesting economics of airlines.

If you can, explore options of UK to NZ to Buenos Aires, it would be a long, and round-about way of getting to Buenos Aires, but probably cheaper in the long run.

You can buy fares NZ to Argentina with either LAN Chile or Aerolineas for about NZD1,300 return, and as low as NZD960 (which my friend was lucky enough to get) and I'd expect with the economy as it is, there are probably some pretty great deals to NZ from the UK as well!

If you have a friend that is in NZ who can make the booking with a travel agent (rather than via online) you can probably get an add on fare (e.g. Buenos Aires to Rio de Janero or Santinago) for very little extra (maybe an extra NZD $200 return) if you book this in conjunction with your main international fare.

Good luck!
