Ok, 2 questions...

1. I'm planning on bringing my hand-gun from the states. I've been trying to call the embassy in Los Angeles and can't get through. I read somewhere that since I have a conceal permit in the U.S. I can sign a few papers to have the gun legally in Argentina. Does anyone have any additional info on this OR advice for bringing in the gun??

2. Anyone have any suggestions for a great daycare for a 2.5 year old boy in Palermo?? We are looking for something part time (3 hours per day) AND most important, the flexibility to go for a few months without having to pay for an entire year.

Much love!

I think you will have a very hard time getting your firearms into Argentina for anything other than a temporary entrance and that's usually for hunting firearms - rifles and shotguns, not hand guns.

I have a conceal carry permit in Philadelphia, Camden, and San Diego and I'm a member of Tiro Federal - a very large indoor/outdoor shooting club here in the city limts. I gave up long ago trying to get my firearms in. You might be better buying your firearm here, at an 80%premium.

Keep in mind the firearm culture here is VERY different from what you are used to back home. Everyone here will think you are an Imperialist War Monger if you talk about your firearms in an endearing manner. Save that conversation for your shooting friends. :)

Good luck!

also caliber limits are not the same, 9mm and 45 are considered war guns here so it`s harder for civilians to get a permit for them, and pretty much forget about carrying it. you can have it home.

You have been rightly adviced. You can bring a hunting rifle, etc.
I am about to publish a book about CCW and its possible influence in reducing violent crimes. It will be titled "LA PORTACION OCULTA", (but will be published in Spanish, of course).
Regardind CCW here, it is higly restricted to union goons, mafiosi and other unsavory caracters, plus retired police officers.
And the penalties for being caught violating this new law are frightening: up to 5 or 8 years in jail!!, depending on the caliber of the weapon.
This of course leaves the entire Argentine population at the mercy of any heartless criminal.
PM me on this if you need more info
Good luck
