I've tried to search the forums but apparently "gym" is too common a word so I didn't get anything; sorry if this is a repeat subject.

I'm looking for a gym in Almagro (near Cordoba and Bulnes). I don't need anything fancy, just something with a couple machines... don't really have the budget for it but I need to get out there and moving, and I just haven't found running in this city to be that appetizing (which is what I used to do in the States, although I would like to do the marathon this year...), so the less expensive, the better. Any ideas?

Gracias!

There are three options in that corner of Palermo - Palermo Viejo that I am familiar with.

Megatlon : is on Santa Fe and Coronel Diaz ( most expensive with the best facilities and newest machines )

Well Club : has two on Coronel Diaz ( and a few other location as well ). The closest to you is on Coronel Diaz and Charcas. Pretty good facilities and machines and relatively affordable.

NEP : is on Mario Bravo and Honduras ( about two bocks from where you are ). It is the cheapest. The machines are circa 1995 ( lol ). But if you aren't a priss and just need an old school " man's " gym with free weights, this is all you need.

I've tried all three and was pretty happy with all. Although I don't like Megatlon's sign up policies and I find them to be somewhat expensive considering I can get the exact same workout for a third of the price anywhere else.

Hope that helps.

Alex: great info, thanks! I checked out NEP's website, and it looks like they have some sort of programs for you, and then they do an evaluation of your progress every three months... Is that the case? Also, do you know if any/all classes are included? I should just stop by, but for now it's just easier to ask, since you've been there. :) It sounds like what I'm looking for, just something basic and cheap, to cross-train and get indoors when the weather's icky. And classes would be amazing!

To be honest, I'm not sure. They offered me a personal trainer when I signed up but since i've been working out for years, I didn't really need one. But I think it was free. And i'm pretty sure the other classes are paid for separately, but again i'm not really sure since I only used their weight room.

You should give them a call or stop by and ask just to be sure.
