Another completely useless survey.

Right, we all know that happiness can only be measured in economic terms and market "freedom". Damn those tree hugging hippies!

According to the survey, Cuba ranks higher than Argentina in terms of happiness. And we know for a fact that no one would ever want to leave that wonderful and happy place. Those thousands of "boat people" are just fishermen getting caught in the currents and ending up in the US shores (BTW, the US is ranked much lower than Cuba). Fortunately there is a trade embargo, otherwise millions of Americans would be leaving the US and seeking refuge in happy Cuba.

Algeria also ranks much higher than the US, Canada and Australia. Pack your bags folks. Algeria is place to be.

Yes, very meaningful survey indeed.

Hilarious!

People are happy in places that supposedly are horrible. People are miserable in places that are supposedly the greatest, most prosperous countries on the planet.

Are you so fixated on ideology to not see that human happiness, once basic needs are met, doesn't have much in the way of connection to your notions of prosperity or market freedom?

Are you so fixated by ideology and this survey to not take into account immigration patters? If this survey was true and accurate, the world immigration patters would be very different then what they are today. Do you agree that humans by nature seek a better life? If that is the case, and rich places are so miserable, how do you explain that Canada receives a much greater number of immigrants than Algeria, Argentina or Cuba?

I am sorry, but this survey simply does not reflect reality. People want to be happy. If they are not happy in one place, they will do everything in their power to move to a happier place.

For sure this is a totally useless survey!
Look at some of the countries that is ranking at the top in the serious indexes of happyness, (My own country Denmark, was number one several years), these show a totally un-happyness in this index! Must be a CFK-Chaves index....:)

To complement,

According to your survey, Yemen is a place as happy as Canada. Yemen! Saudi Arabia and Iran too, by the way. If you are a woman, you should definitely move there and enjoy a life of full happiness under a burka.

If that does not spell bullshit to you. I do not know what else will.

I believe the survey tells something important: people from third-World countries are happy with less. People from First-World countries are spoilt, too egoist and have forgotten a long time ago what is really important in life (surely not having 10 different mustard brands in the supermarket!!!)
