Let's not forget his four kids (ages 10 to 16 at the time) who had to live through that mess as well. Sanford is a cheating coward who deserves no political office, much less be celebrated for what he did. I hope Elizabeth Colbert finally puts an end to his political career.

I know politicians shouldn't be moralists by any stretch of the imagination but come on! This douchebag should have held himself to a higher standard than lying to his wife, his children, and his constituency. He should be prosecuted for using taxpayer funds to visit his mistress. In fact, I honestly think 1-2 years in a supermax facility and banned from elected office for life would have been an apt punishment. Actually, you have some of the facts wrong.

CORRECT: "He cheated on his wife."

INCORRECT: "He dumped her and ran to his mistress."

After being busted he said that his Argie mistress was his "soul mate", "BUT... he was still going to try to make it work with is wife."

THAT is when (1) His WIFE dumped him, and (2) He eventually moved on to give his his undivided attention to his mistress.

YES, he's a sketchy lying bastard, but he's no Newt Gingrich.

PS- I have to admit that his porteña fiancée looks great in all of the photos that I've seen. Yummier than in any previous photos to date.

PPS- His constituents are from South Carolina. They deserve what they get. It's a election without major tampering (most probably). If he's really who they want... it's just the rest of the US that doesn't deserve to be subjected to his votes.

Minor details aside, its not great form running off with another woman and using taxpayer funds to finance to atleast part of the fling.
I am not taking the moral high ground here, but politicians are public figures and representatives and should be held to a higher standard.
He doesnt deserve a restart of his political career and theres no way he should be running for office, but then if his constituents vote him in they are equally as stupid.
