Has Argentina Become Worse Or Better for Foreign Retirees recently?

To continue my post concerning health insurance, I was advised that Swiss Medical plans do require a DNI. I do not qualify yet.
I did get to see their pricing, and it appears to scale along in 5-year increments. I asked about full coverage for the 66-70 range and
it was/is 670,000. There also appears to be a plan that they offer that coordinates with their clinics and for that it was showing 235,000 a month and with both plans there are the possible 2% monthly increases.
I do not know the specifics about any of the plans offered but it certainly appears that there can be some significant savings monthly.
If interested contact: Gastan Calvagni (11)(15) 5221-1258 he said he is on WhatsApp
He is located in the Swill Medical Office on Pueyrredón 1441/3
Have you started the immigration process?
I think you are issued a DNI once you have a precaria. The DNI will change once you get an actual visa issued.

Also, would be good to understand what is covered/excluded. If it covers existing prescriptions then it help reduces the effective cost.

As far as I know, the DNI is issued by the registró after the temporary residency is approved by migraciones. The only temporary DNI is that one and it's good until the temporary residency expires.

In some cases (such as a "work visa") it may be possible to get a temporary CUIL/CUIT at ANSES after the precaria is granted and I believe that it must be changed after the temporary residency ("visa") is granted.

I don't know if an Argentine insurance company that insists on a DNI for health insurance coverage would accept a CUIT/CUIL instead of a DNI.

No, a DNI is NOT issued with a precaria. A precaria is a precaria. A DNI is a card and number you receive if your precaria becomes a temporary residency.

That said, try Medicus. In 2020, they gave me a policy when I was only holding a precaria. I had to sign a form agreeing to tell them when I got the temporary residency/DNI, which eventually I did. They may still permit precaria holders to take out a policy.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification.
I thought it was generally the process that you had a temporary number during the precaria period, but I guess its not.

Has anyone tried speaking to the insurance companies with just a precaria? Or do you need the actual DNI?

Hello, I have started the immigration process, and it has been just over one year. I was told living in the province is a wee bit slower.
As for Alby's suggestion I contacted Medicus and was told that since I was over 65 I was not eligible, I know someone there and that does not help either.
Steve, I did go to Anses and got the CUIL/CUIT and that did not assist with banking or trying to change to a phone plan. For banking I have been told to try Banco Nacional and that they offer banking for Gringos.
So, all said and done right now Hospital Aleman has the best pricing, their service has been great and many of the staff speak English and are genuinely concerned and dedicated. My only issue is that they do not have many alternate sites to use.
They also accepted my request to be insured so, if you are uninsured with no DNI you might want to check them out.
