If so, how is the ash situation at higher elevations? I'm planning to do some hiking in the area and wouldn't want to be kicking up fine dust all day long.

I should be heading up to Refugio Frey this week, so will try and remember to give a first hand response when I get back.... Trekking in Bariloche: www.trekbariloche.com
