Help! Need need dell computer screen

Hi guys,

I just dropped my boyfriend's DELL computer and I cracked his screen, ahh, horrible. I would need help in figuring out how/if I could just get the screen replaced.

What's the laptop model?

Try to check it at www.dell.com.ar and maybe you can ask them.

There's a computers specialist shopping center called Galería Jardines, Florida 537. Maybe you can ask there too.

Update: Dell won't be able to deliver the parts before 3-4 weeks so that's a no go. I was told there was a supplier of Dell parts, called quick supplies, I called and was told that I would be sent a quote by email fingers crossed.

As for mercado libre, I didn't find a match.

Could you please tell me what model number/name of dell it is?
What size is the screen? 14.1" , 15.6" 17" etc.. or you can just PM me.

I'd see Ricardo -- if it's the screen of the laptop, you might be able to replace it with a generic part here that will cost you much less, and then put in an order for an official Dell part.

One problem with Dell that may or may not have changed since I got my moni from them a couple of years ago -- you need a DNI to be able to buy from them.

Their prices are good though, they deliver straight to your door, and everything has a proper Dell warranty -- the only issue we had is that I could not order in my own name because I had no DNI at the time. Also I cannot remember if they would take my credit card, or if the credit card had to be in the same name as the DNI of the person who ordered.

Thanks for the great advice guys, I ended up dropping it off at Florida 537 where it was bought last year. The tecs there are doing a free diagnosis and tomorrow I should find out the damage done, depending on the outcome and the prices they quote me for parts and repair, I will look into generic parts and enlist your help Ricardo!

So, finally, I got a quote for 280 dollars, for computer screen (used) and installation included. I agreed to it, I did not find the price outrageously expensive, It was done today in less than 1 hour. I was ok with paying that and getting it fixed asap.

EDIT: Forgive me but I have to honest...and in no way am I trying to rub it in...I sell second hand screens, they range from US$75 for a 14.1" to a max size of 17" for US$150...including installation. This is usually a good option for older laptops where the customer does not want to invest too much.

New LCD screens range between US$135 to US$190.

Hi Ricardo,

Thanks for letting me know (ouch it hurts a little), I knew I was paying more and I should have waited to get a quote from you but the sign of relief on my boyfriend's face was worth paying more and getting it done on the spot.

I will definitely give you a buzz next time I need to have my computer fixed.
It's a Dell Inspiron probably a 15'' bought new last year.
