This morning in Puerto Ugauzu I saw this huge honking barrel shaped like a Mate mug sitting on the sidewalk with a sign that read "24 hours, hot water, 1 peso" or something to that effect. I bought my son a bag of Mate and a gourd with bombilla but now I'm thinking...I want one just for me too! The first time I tried it my sense of perception was heightened and yes, my appetite suppressed as well. As far as the appetite for the flesh...don't need any extra urges for those beautiful Argentine minas that walk down the street in their tight jeans, leather boots, and scarves tossed over the shoulder just so.

It has a stimulant effect on me, like coffee. But I avoid consumption in summer. Makes me sweat like crazy. It can be a laxative when consumed in quantities, so be careful...
