Anyways, I had also wanted to comment on something else. Like everywhere, one bad apple really spoils the bunch. About two years ago walking down Avenida Corrientes in Once I followed a mother-daughter team of pickpocketers; in a period of 8 minutes they tried stealing proabably 4 wallets or things from people's backpacks. So, while the sensation people have is that crime is rampant, it may be distorted by a few people doing a lot of bad things. (Again, I realize the same could be said for everywhere.)
