How do Argentines refer to their DNI cards?

I was wondering how Argentines refer to their DNI cards. Like, do they say "mi de-ene-i", or do they blur the vowels and make a word like "deni".

Anyway, just curious.

I am usually asked for my "numero de documento" when making a purchase with a credit card or an item with a guarantee.

My Argentine girlfriend always used the word "documento" when referring to her DNI (as well as my need to have one).

So did the police when I made a denuncia, the excribanos at my escrituras, the folks at AFIP when getting my CUIL, the art appriaser at Banco Ciudad, the agents at the aduana when getting the permit to export art, etc.

"De-eneí" or "deneí".

When asked, "documento" or "número de documento" are probably more common. "Documento" stands for DNI and its earlier versions "Libreta Cívica" (women) and "Libreta de Enrolamiento" (men) many elder locals still carry. You don't have to be specific unless asked (normally, when filling out a form).
