I like to eat lunch shortly afternoon which means that I'm usually one of the first customers in a restaurant. I usually order a salad which is not a problem but when I order a burger or carne sandwich or milanese I get yesterdays leftovers that are far from fresh, usually overcooked and have been reheated several times. I've tried pleading with the waiter and sending the food back to the kitchen but that hasn't helped. Is there anything else I can do to get a fresh meal?

I think you need to be more specific about what neighborhood, what type of food, and what price range. I have eaten in dozens of restaruants over the years where they make the food in front of me as I watch, for lunch.
There are something like 10,000 restaurants in BA.
They dont ALL serve leftovers.

What are the names of some of the restaurants that prepare your lunch in front of you? Hamburgers? Milanese? Sandwiches? Omlettes?

La Alacena, on Honduras and Gascon. pretty full menu.
or
Picaron, on Dorrego- usually a good lunch special, if they have hamburgers, they are killer.

I usually eat sandwiches for lunch in Retiro, but I tend to get them to go.
Probably 4 or 5 places near me that make them to order while I watch.

I go to several parillas that dont finish the cooking of the meat until you make the order- thats pretty standard. My neighborhood one on Maipu has all kinds of stuff staged, at 60% done, just after noon, and they dont finish the cooking til you order. But they arent from yesterday.

Welcome to Argentina best country in the world (imo) but the food here is awful, there's a whole thread about it. If you want to grab a quick sandwhich on your lunch break it's going to be stale, dry. awful quality ingredients.

Example in the centro you got "Master Wich" corner of Esmeralda and Marcelo T. 4.6 star rating on Google and a huge line out the door every lunchtime but it's so bland and ugh. In any other city it would be 2 stars or more accurately 0 stars since it would have gone out of business years ago. But here it's about as good as you're gonna get.

If you want a good sandwich go to Casa Saenz in Belgrano and order a club sandwich. Its one of the nicest I have had anywhere in the world. Their food is sooo good, everything on the menu is but as it is owned by celebrity chef Jimena Saenz it is bound to be good but it really is.

Alternatively Narda Comedor, also in Belgrano also does amazing food, also really expensive and also owned and run by a celebrity chef Narda Lepes. I would highly recommend both of these places but bring plenty of lucas.

Chuí in Villa Crespo is also a personal favourite, amazing vegan food.

Argentina is like anywhere, there is plenty of good food but you have to hone in on what they are good at.

I work a block from there. I get excellent premade (that morning) sandwiches at Gama, up two blocks on Marcelo T. I also get them made to order, using really good salami from Tandil, the kind with the spices on the outside, and a range of cheeses, including brie, with fresh tomatoes and ricula at Tandilense on San Martin. Or, I go down Marcelo T a few more feet and the nice women at Mi Tiento will make me a sandwich to order, including lots of fresh ripe avocado. I buy premade, (that morning) wraps at either Raclette on Paraguay, or at 1249 on Esmerelda. Sandwiches made to order at 1249 take longer, but all of the ingredients are absolute top notch, including the bread. Sometimes I splurge and get a bondiola sandwich at parilla La Sonado on Maipu, they start every morning about 11;30 cooking 20 or 30 kilos of various carnes and chorizos.
And, yes, once in a while I go to Master Witch, but usually only for migas. Master Witch is cheap, thats why there is a line. It basically a comida por peso.

In other neighborhoods, I go to La Rambla for the expensive, but great, steak sandwich. I go to Flour Store for a burger. I go to Artemesia, on Billinghurst near Cordoba, for an amazing hand built sandwich.
