How Does Punta Del Este Compare with St Tropez, Monaco, Marbella, etc these days?

Is Mar del Plata worth visiting? I hear beaches are good and loads of art and culture events.........maybe I should explore there
Is it a nice beach city? Yes. Does it satisfy "a luxury European exclusive vibe, glamour, classy restaurants, nightlife, music, beach yoga"? In my opinion, no.

Not too many alternatives I think. But why not try some place in the Caribbean? Or else (more to do): Sydney or Capetown?
Yeah but lacking a "European cultural vibe"........perhaps Buzios could be a good option

Sydney is a very boring city in the night with its lockout laws . I would recommend San Paolo . Rio de Janeiro or Mexico City for superb nightlife

for nightlife it has to be Buenos Aires

I think Punta is the best winter sun option if you want to be near BsAs. All the uber cool Argentines and the Latin Americanos are there. Punta center is nice but a bit old. The place to be in Punta is the Manantiales area. You’re still kinda in Argentina. Nice food, nice beach, nice party. Much better than Carilo. Vibe and the weather. You got the luxury in PdE. And it’s safe.

Nightlife in Buenos Aires is a shell of what it was before COVID. The nightlife scene is dead except for Friday and Saturday and even those are down 70-80% compared to pre COVID levels. The cause of this is multi faceted; the first reason is young people simply have little or no disposable income available to spend on entertainment. The second reason is that the world has changed; going out to bars and nightclubs used to be necessary to meet people to date, now dating apps take care of that; in addition there are not dozens of streaming platforms, tik-tok, social media, video games etc that provide endless entertainment and amusement without leaving the house. Furthermore, young people are more health and fitness conscious and thus drinking much less alcohol.

I guess we must have different definitions of "nightlife". I dont go to pickup bars and drink twenty dollar cocktails, but I go to see live music all the time in a very wide variety of venues, and there are way too many things to do in BA every single night. I have been to at least five live shows in the last six months, full of young people, old people, children and seniors, with prices ranging from free to 40,000 pesos.
Argentines, in my experience here since 2007, have never been big drinkers like germans or brits.
There are tons of "cultural centers" that sell beer, wine, a few cocktails, and serve food, and have music, dance, theater, poetry, and performance, and are full, every weekend in BA. full of people.
There are some really cool neighborhood bars like Condarco, or Accuario.
I went to see a great early 2000's band for a reunion concert a few months ago- in a warehouse type space, sold out a couple weeks in advance, great homemade empanadas and basic drinks, cheap, fun, full.
Its true that there are fewer places like Million these days, but there are still amazing dive bars, underground (literally) gay clubs, big clubs featuring metal bands, electronic dance spots, and a few thousand small bars with local scenes.
There are a bunch of new cocktail and wine bars, several vinyl only DJ bars, russian rock music bars, cumbia clubs, lesbian bars, and popups. One art gallery I know does a street party about once a month with DJ's, parillas on the sidewalk, and drinks- it fills the small street til 2am every time they do it.
Dj Villa Diamante does a thursday night free outdoor dj set every week, its crazy packed.
The scene exists, if you look for it.
It aint Ibiza, sure, but it doesnt cost a 100 euros to get in, either.
