How "free" Are Expats In Argentina?

Me too.
If only I can resolve my residency and find a way to transfer my monthly budget @ blue rate. I would gladly put up with everything else that bothers me here.

Just spend time in the country and you would soon be eligible for citizenship. Forget about residency. It sucks. Citizenship is the way to go !

For me Argentina is like the Wild West.

Opportunity and excitement mixes perfectly within a world of corruption and lawlessness.

And just like the Wild West- you never know if you're going to get shot... :p

Yes yes, I meant citizenship. I have been here for 8.5 years already (a lot more than the minimum 2 years required). I just started this process recently (I never heard about citizenship before I joined this great forum ... [baexpat]).

Ajo, I can always count on you to give the Democrat party line - you are definitely NOT a Neo-Liberal!

Laugh of the Day: Teabagger Marco Rubio demands IRS commissioner resign over scandal: http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2013/05/13/marco_rubio_irs_commissioner_resignation.html

Department of Justice snooped on Associated Press. What happened to Obama, (too many scandals) ? He promised the world he will walk on water & and part the Red Sea, to do the right thing.

Despite utter lack of evidence of Obama's involvement.

This is one of the most enjoyable threads I have read here (and I've read a lot of enjoyable ones). Thank you SteveinBsAs for posting your question.

Also regarding, "I find the comment about murderous dictators absurd", and recommending people read some history. GS_Dirtboy, would you be interested in posting what histories you recommend? .

To all of you, as far as I am concerned, GOOD JOB!

Sure! Here's a short list. Great for a rainy Sunday morning in-bed reading with a cappuccino.

Pol Pot (Cambodia)
Joseph Stalin (Russisa)
Ho Chi Minh ( North Vietanam)
Mao Tse-Tung (China)
Nicholas II (Russia)
Pasha (Turkey)
Hirohito (Japan)
Hideki Tojo (Japan)
Hussein (Iraq)
Chiang Kai-shek (China)
Kim Il Sung (North Korea)
Leopold II (Belgium)
Yakubo Gowan (Nigeria)
Hitler (Germany)
Etc,

There is a distinction to be made between leaders who started wars in which a lot of people died and leaders who simply murdered millions of people for whatever reason they decided was legitimate. Some even managed to do both.

We can go back earlier to include Gengis Kahn, Mongol invasions, the Crusades, etc. In short, the comment that Argentina produced some of history's most brutal dictators is far from accurate. Anyone that says humans are essentially good must have fallen asleep in history class.

Rich One:
Did you find any good mango there?
( Ain`t cruel to be asking a question like this in a tropical country?)

Never been there....! enjoy the freedom Not to Go!! to save a few "mangos"....

I feel free to go To Mercado Central to buy cheaper groceries...!!

However if everyone went there they would run out of cheap merchandise... I wonder

I bought goog mangos there. Bad ones too.
On wednesday they have only best quality fruirs and vegetales.
There is also a gourmet area. Regards
