How Hard Is It To Get Out Of Buenos Aires?

So your blog has an interesting beginning, why haven't you written anything lately?

The sole purpose of the blog is to attract no more than three like minded individuals/couples (with or without adult childen) who would be interested in "Going Galt" at my location (with deeded property in their name and my help in constructing a masonry or log home). They do not have to have a burning desire to live in Argentina full time...at least not until TSHTF. I have a burning desire to be right where I am right now (full time) and there is still time to build a brick or log home (with eucalyptus trunks harvested from trees on my property without killing the trees!). I can also provide temporary lodging during construction (which I can also supervise in their absence) in a guest house located just behind mine.

Anyone who understands the expression "Going Galt" and is interested in knowing more can contact me at the email address the blog.

For "obvious" reasons (at least to like minded individuals) I prefer not to provide additional details in the blog, which I first linked to on the www.galtsgulchonline.com website, where I post as ShruginArgentina.

I´ve got curious and if you dont´t mind, I´ll ask you what do you consider scary about USA ?

The answer to that is going to get intensely political. So, if you don't mind, why don't we have that discussion in the political forum, after I'm out of the USA :)

Call me a coward if you will, but the reason for this is the same reason why I stopped blogging. I don't want to wind up on anybody's doodoo list just yet. And I suppose this reply has, if only by implication, at least partially answered your question.

Not calling you nothing. It´s ok.

As far as San Martin, it's nothing like the colonias in Tijuana. In fact, I would say it's much nicer and a whole lot safer than Tijuana (aside from possibly the guarded gated communities). It's a fairly normal town, with normal Argentines. Middle of the road, where you find common folk. There are some poorer areas, and some very nice areas, like most towns in Argentina. It's a big enough town, and close enough to the city, that the transport is good and products, entertainment, food, etc. are accessible. Rent is cheaper than the Central areas and the streets are much quieter. You'd probably get to know your neighbors there. What would attract an ex-pat there? I don't know, depends on what you are looking for. I like the place, though I understand that most ex-pats prefer not to leave the more traditional central parts of town.

Interesting discussion about the States. I am not political at all. However, to me, that country is headed for some hard times. It happens to anyone who has ever made it to the top...there is no place but down. I don't know if the solution is going out to a remote country town, but I think it's smart to look ahead and realize the reality of the situation. I left the States because I felt the culture was too dry and souless for my liking. I don't regret leaving.

Let me see...

Imminent US Dollar collapse....

Will lead to a massive breakdown of the supply chain, which will lead to severe shortages, CRAZY inflation (See Argentina in the 80s but without the experience dealing with it Argentines had).

Police state will get exponentially worse, violent riots, provisions most people ignore of NDAA will come into play. FEMA camps will be used and people will finally realize they were real (those who weren't oblivious).

It will be very scary to be in the US for a while

The world economy will suffer globally too. Since so many countries have their economies and their reserves tied to the USD. We should have phased it out slowly instead of letting it crash they will say. Too late.

That been said, 90% of the world population lives in the Northern Hemisphere. The Southern Hemisphere is the place to be. Buenos Aires is not a good example because of the population density, but elsewhere seems very good.

Or current conflict on going for the small piece of real estate in relevance but important for the Russos or to the EU~US alliances.

World war has begun for reason much in miniscle meaning than for exsample. Wait till the two starts launching ICBM to each other...

And as far as world economy, 30 + % of energy needed for the EU is procured right now from mr. putin's land. So if conflict excalates, then we all going to see another world economy meltdown and then the US is going to be very scary place to be in..

So perhaps best to be in the land that does not rely too much from outside conomy co-existence and that is Argentina..

What? Why?

Why is the dollar going to imminently collapse?

I can't image how a devaluation massive enough to cause the type of effects you're talking about could ever take place.

Good solid, specific advice. I like it!

How long am I planning to stay in BA? I don't really know. I'm not wedded to the idea of living in Buenos Aires, but I'm definitely thinking of settling in the Argentina/Uruguay area long-term. I have a Brazilian friend online who lobbied me very hard to come to Brazil, but I don't speak more than a dozen words of Portugese, (a tad embarrassing, given that my grandmother's maiden name was Gonsalves). I do want out of the USA permanently. Things are starting to get scary here.
If you really think things a scary in San Diego then you are going to need adult diapers in Argentina.

Hysterical and Texas. Why not stick to rewriting text books.

No, no, that's OK. I was speaking rhetorically. There is, in fact, a part of me that feels I am something of a coward for ceasing to speak out, something of a coward for running away instead of staying and trying to help fix the problem. Fortunately, the more pragmatic side of my personality is in charge. And that pragmatic side doesn't think much of tilting at windmills :)
