Last time I flew with them, a few years ago, the planes were very uncomfortable... almost no cushion on the seat, seats didnt recline much, no at seat entertainment, only one or two old screens for the whole cabin, etc.

Now I'm thinking of taking Aerolineas direct flights to and back from Spain and I'd like to know if anyone has flown with them recently and if the plane are any better than my last experience.

They've never been plush but no idea how they are doing now. FYI for some, they have round trips MIA-EZE for under $1,000 at the moment.

I had an almost exact same experience as you three times in the last five years on the BA to Madrid route. Old plane (Air Canada logos everywhere), uncomfortable, no room, staff who looked fresh from the grave, shitty entertainment, the lot. I am not sure how many planes they run from BA to Madrid, but I doubt they have invested the money to improve the experience in the last two years.

If you have another option take it... Aerolineas long haul should be avoided - delays, old planes, crap service. Iberia is the best option to Spain.

I use Aerolineas v v often but only short distance flight ( such as local flights) or maybe till Montevideo or Rio or Salvador.

All the short distance flights are pretty decent.

However, I will not risk a cross Atlantic 13 hour flight.

Regarding going to Miami, I doubt it can be any worse than a AA flight.

Amen to that !

I have never flown them myself so can't speak from personal experience, but sell a fair bit of Aerolineas to New York. I have more than a few clients who prefer flying Aerolineas to American - strongly so. Planes as comfortable or more so - so they say - and much better service.

I don't think they've invested as much in the Europe routes (yet?), though.

EDIT: For someone who wants to land here and go straight to work, Aerolineas' schedules are unbeatable. Most intl. Aerolineas flights land between 4 and 5 am, which is exactly what you need to get through immigration/customs and be home by 7 am.

I've flow Aerolineas JFK to BA many times - I've always found the flights to be pretty comfortable compared to other carriers - certainly no worse, and perhaps a little better (as the flights generally haven't been jam packed). I typically fly coach.

By the way, whenever I need to fly to Europe, I always always always :-

Fly TAM ( called LATAM now) from Sao Paulo. Typically a flight to Sao Paulo and then from Sao Paulo non stop to London. From thereon, I go anywhere I have to. I found the flight extremely comfortable and the crew extremely polite ( even to a man from Congo like me).

I often fly to USA. Inevitably end up in American. Horrible! They treat everyone like shit. It seems they are 100% sure that they can not lose their jobs. Recently flew United and was quite impressed . very good flight..and good seats in premier economy but super expensive. Crew slightly better than American.

I am tempted to try Aerolieaneas to USA, basis reviews above. Thanks guys

The best crew i hv ever come across is on Qatar flights
