I've been looking for this info but haven't been able to find it.

Does anyone know how many members of Congress are indigenous/mestizo?
Do they have the same % representation in Congress as they do in the general population?

I would be surprised if at this point they were still looking at this! I hope they have moved on!

Sala was a Palasur Congress women and I guess it was too much for some local xenophobic people. As you know, they arrested her beside the immunity against that.

I think she was the only one.

By the was, San Martin was one of them with Tehuelche blood.

I was thinking about the topic.

Sala I think she is not mestiza, instead pure native american.

The whole concept about "mestizos" is normally related to low class in other countries while in Argentina they are the oligarchy because here the King of Spain encouraged his men to marry local native american women so, it is at the Conservative and extreme right parties were you probably find more "mestizos" because there you find those last name with remote colonial roots. At the officialism (the administration in power right now) is where you can find most mestizos with last names like Bullrich, Aranguren, Urtubey among many others.

While the immigrants like you and me are their natural enemies.

However, they do not recognize their selve as mestizos and, instead, they developed the pseudo theory os an argentine native superior raza through Zuloaga:

So, this is what the extreme right thinks in Argentina.

Is there any law that requires this? NO

And what is the percentage of lawyers in Congress? almost 100%, while they are a minority in the general population, don't they?

Maybe in the colonial oligarquia vacuna you can find more mestizos. However currently the Oficialismo is represented by first or second generation immigrants like Macri, Massa and Scioli plus their spouses all first generation Italian descent ..

Depending on the definition of mestizo.......i honestly don't think there are many at least in the BsAs province. If a mestizo is someone 50 per cent native and 50 per cent european, by now, hardly anyone qualifies as such. The only person i know( and i know a few) ,that would come close , would be a lady that her mother was mestizo already and her father straight European descendant........so to my understanding, that would make her only a half mestizo and only quarter native?

I don't hear this term used in Argentina. There are obviously many people of mixed race -- you only have to look at the faces of people on the streets however not all were born in Argentina but came from other Latin American countries during the Kirchner years. Still many Argentines are of mixed blood. It surprises me that the upper class (primarily those of Spanish extraction with certain "distinguished" names) are of mixed race. They look very European white to me. Aside from those of Spanish colonial descent with famous names, the traditional upper class includes families of British and French and sometimes German descent. The middle class are often of Italian background or nouveau riche like Macri. In recent decades the traditional upper class have lost a lot of their social position in Argentina.

You are not well informed.
Bullrich, Urtubey, Larreta among many others belongs to the colonial oligarchy. That´s why the Bullrichs are obsessed with the new Campaña del Desierto.

There is no need of quoting the pictures of the books.
