how many expats do you think left in the past year? as cost of living here is as much or greater than the US, what percentage of people do you imagine have left? has there been a slow down on acitivty of this forum , for a good metric?
I know i came here and fell in love, and moved definitely in great part due to the great buying power. Now if i had not married here, made great friends, and generally built a fulfilling life here that goes far beyond money value, in the past 3 years since i've moved, possibly i would not still be here.

I know many younger folks have left, I love BA but the cost of living just doesn't make sense anymore and doesn't seem to have prospects of fixing itself anytime soon

The cost of living is NOT greater than the US. It has gone up for food of course but transportation is incredibly cheap...is there a subway in the USA that charges 75 cents? My one bedroom furnished apartment has gone up a lot...now I am paying $500 a month, lol...tell me, is there even a room available in someone's house for that in most US cities??? Clothes prices are stupidly high but have been for many years.

If you’re a inner city renting porteño that could be the case. For people like me who own their house the rent being cheap isn’t a factor. And when you aren’t a subway rider but live in a different province, and have to own a car and pay 2x or more for the same car in the US.

Otherwise sure services are still way cheaper. But when every thing else you have to buy is more expensive than US, you have little left over to take advantage of services

...certainly nowhere else that I could live in a three bedroom house on 2.5 acres of land, own and maintain a car, and pay all of my living costs (including all utilities, food, medical exams, insurance, wifi, Netflix and government fees and taxes) for $600USD per month.

If the government realizes its ambition of an exchange rate of 1000 Pesos per Dollar, I imagine that will push a few more expats out. And also, there will be fewer people (tourists, digital nomads, possible expats) coming here at that rate.

I'm here since 2017, fortunately not paying rent anymore (last apartment rented in 2023 was USD 1200 / month), though expenses and utility prices are quite substantial. Our total outgoings would be maybe 3 times Steve's (though there are two of us).

With today's Blue rate at 1,130 pesos per dollar, I've started to look around for the EXIT signs.

Specially, considering that my power bill just went from 35 to 76,000 pesos. Per month.

Argentina has almost become more expensive than Uruguay

I find this such a weird comparison..

The average salary in the US was 5k USD per month.
I doubt that's here the top 5%.
