Guys,

The time has come to close my health insurance plan with Hospital Aleman. Whats the procedure to ensure that i am off their list lest they send me some big bill one year later?

Secondly, which is the street address to go and start my plan with OSDE. what are the hours of office to do so?

Thank you

You go to their office to sign a SOLICITUD DE BAJA DE AFILIACION with your socio card. Tell them the date you want it cancelled. You'll sign the solicitud and receive a copy.

Go to the OSDE website and look for the local office in your neighborhood. Since you don't mention your neighborhood, you have to find it yourself. I went to the one on Corrientes 2400 last week. When you sign up with OSDE, your first bill will cover the previous month, so you're covered immediately. That's the way they bill their customers for the plan. You'll have to read and sign a two-page form stating all your preexisting health problems, how you intend to make payment, etc. They will give you a temporary affiliate card; later the official one comes in the mail along with the book of doctors covered in your plan.

Theres also an OSDE in Aguero and Santa Fe. But I think the one on Billinghurst is bigger. 10 am to 6 pm.

Good choice.

Make sure that you get a final bill and that all your previous payements were done in time, otherwise they might still hit you with an interest bill months after that. Just had the surprise leaving OSDE and they presented me a bill from last December! Nothing was mentiones when I payed them last Feb.

Also, with OSDE, you pay an expired month, not ahead of it. I moved to Swiss Medical and they charge you in advance.

For those of you knowing OSDE == do they offer insurance to a young 70 year old -- excellent shape I dare say too.

If so any thoughts on what the rates would be?

thank you

Walter

Hi Walter, I believe that after your 65th birthday they can be much more selective. They run you through some health screenings or extensive questionnaire and then send the results to a committee who then decide on what your premium would be....they can make it way out of the ballpark if they don't want you without formally rejecting you....conversely if you have been on their plan since before your 65th birthday they allow you to renew with a price "adjustment"--probably the same for all existing members depending on their current OSDE plan and age...
