hey sal - best and easiest is to go to colonia, uruguay. you can get there by a fast ferry, 1 hour, with buquebus-200pesos. they have a dock at puerto madero.

or you can use buquebus and go to punta or montevideo.

buquebus has an office in recoleta, 1452 posadas. you can go to the office and buy a ticket.

Perhaps you missed the date of Sal's post (January 12). He has probably already renewed the visa...one way or another.

Unfortunately, this is another example of the blind leading the blind (newcomers giving newcomers advice).

If Sal went to Colonia to renew his visa in January it was a waste of time and money. I know he arrived in October '08, so he could have gone to migraciones on Antardida to get 90 more days for $100 pesos.

I know that information is correct. I have done it and posted about it in this thread.

No need to apologize. I was more foucsed on alexexpat's contributions to this thread.

He seems to "know it all" but get's a lot of it wrong.

It pays (if not saves) to know "how it works" here.
