Just because Moreno calls up Mr. Piano and says he wants the dollar to fall to 6 pesos doesn't mean the cueveros are stupid enough to get rid of their dollars at that rate. The only thing that's going to happen is that they won't sell dollars for a few days, but they'll still buy yours at 8.5.

This government wants people to stop thinking in Dollars and start thinking in Pesos. It's like misguided parents who thinks that permanently locking their 16-year old daughter in the house will keep her loving them forever. The blow-back is obvious to those watching from the outside.

What the government is missing is people have no confidence in the Peso precisely because of these overnight, knee-jerk reactions. If you want people to think in Pesos then do the things that create more confidence, not erode it.
