I Love The 80's

There are times when even Aspen does my head in.
I mean, the DJ's are nice and laid back, not in your face, but how much Duran Duran and George Michael can we take?

None, but then I've never even heard of Aspen except as a ski resort in Colorado.

Because you live in the US perhaps?

Aspen is OK, but the playlist is fairly mixed. Sometimes you get lucky and get the Stranglers or Iggy Pop (candy girl apparently was a very big song down here) or you might be unlucky and run into Pet Shop Boys (misery on a stick).

Anyway, a major plus for living in Argentina is the entirely limited possibilities of being exposed to country "music" - awful stuff.

I simply don't listen to the radio in Argentina, though I spend a lot of time in BA and elsewhere.

Much of country music traces its descent directly from Ireland, for what that's worth. The most commercial country music is garbage - almost as bad as disco - but there's also some truly great stuff, showcased every October at http://www.hardlystr...rass.com/2013/. Try, for example, http://www.theflatlanders.com/ or

no more than all the construction workers in the US who listen to "classic rock" all day.
plenty of very modern music being played and listened to in BsAs.
check out any friday or saturday night at Matienzo.

Friday night's at Matienzo is Swing Party!!

I do take taxis (without apostrophe). I almost always manage to tune the radio out, though it's not easy when there's a soccer game on and I have to tell the driver how tedious it is.

Ah yes those pesky soccer fan taxi drivers. Have you tried one of your killer one-liners on them, like "Peronists are the Republicans of the south"? I'm sure that will reduce them to an instant cower.
