I need to vent. Fatal shootings in Minnesota

Ah yes, the ancient rule of human behavior: people only protest when there’s a secret cabal payoff involved.
Couldn’t possibly be that some folks understand empathy, constitutional rights, or the wild idea that injustice doesn’t need a matching skin tone to be offensive.

But sure—let’s skip the boring explanations like solidarity or moral principle and jump straight to the spy-movie subplot. Much more comforting than admitting some people act on values instead of self-interest.

Humans on whole are inherently self-serving and Incapable of doing things that serve others and for free no less. Sure a small % of them do but its extremely rare and these people that do are NOT violent like the protesters we see now.

Jerry you seem very naive. Not sure what rock you've been living under. Kinda scary we have people like you walking around this earth thinking everything and everyone is A OK. You seem very new Age...or as I call it the New cage.

Oh, absolutely spot on — thank you for the wake-up call, O Wise Oracle of Human Darkness™.

I’ve clearly been frolicking in my little unicorn meadow, naively believing people might occasionally help each other without demanding a receipt or a tax write-off. How foolish of me to think firefighters run into burning buildings, or that strangers donate kidneys, or that millions volunteer their time every year without expecting a medal and a GoFundMe. Silly me, those are obviously just urban legends spread by Big Altruism.

Thank goodness we have gritty realists like you to remind us that 99.9% of humanity is pure selfish garbage and the 0.1% who aren’t are gentle hippies who’ve never raised their voice, let alone a protest sign. Truly terrifying that someone like me still believes the world contains basic decency — imagine the chaos if more of us walked around with that dangerous delusion!

Anyway, keep guarding the gates of cynicism for us, champ. Someone has to make sure hope stays safely locked in its New Cage. 😘

How sad, to go through life with that view of the world.

Lol...the passive aggressive kiss at the end. Youre not fooling me at all. Stop that, I know what youre doing. I've seen your type. Big talk but no substance. Virtue signaling and woke ideology seems ingrained.

Um, sure. The last figures I saw said something like 8% of the people being picked up were charged with actual felonies. Another ≈35% are guilty of misdemeanors, mostly Class A stuff - traffic tickets, petty theft, etc. Leaving more than 50% with nothing. Mind, these are the immigrants on their lists...in other words, NOT illegals. Statistics demonstrate again and again that people without documents commit fewer crimes per capita than citizens - obviously, they don't want to be caught doing something that would attract attention.

This is about skin color and funny accents, period. And there is one thing that supporters of Trump and his cronies need to reckon with:

You may not consider yourself a racist, but at this point, you have to admit that racism is not a deal breaker for you.'

Some of us don't see the world through racial lenses. It must be unpleasant to live that way. I'm sure that somewhere in the millions that walked in there are some white people and I feel exactly the same about them. And I'm not a big believer in government statistics.

I have two issues. One, I haven't seen any reason why these people should be allowed to cut to the front of the line while there are many people all over the world waiting. This is personal for me because a friends son died a violent death while waiting to be approved.
Secondly, talking about lenses, the democrats see the immigrants as the key to lasting power and I'm not ready for a future of corruptions and woke nonsense.

No not sad at all. Maybe youre projecting here.
I think it's wild how each of us views the world so differently. And, it's from experience. We all go through this life witnessing different versions of the same events. And we judge them based on our own circumstance. KSM, I've no doubt you truly believe most people are self serving, and self righteous. This comes from upbringing, and a bit of righteous dogma (that many of us have held in some form or another until we choose to get back to the real world and shatter it).

In my life, I've suffered. And that suffering has made me keenly aware of the kindness humanity has on offer. No expectation of reward. Just pure love and kindness. And, I find people are naturally prone to help, not to hinder.

We're out here experiencing two separate worlds, two unique visions. I hope that your life leads you to see just how beautiful humans are to one another, without being prodded. I've been fortunate to see that those folks are the actual majority. Online, of course...you see the most brutal factions and those out for profit. But I've been privy to hoards of good will in my life and I know humans, as a whole, are good creatures. The bad ones just take up more airtime and space in the atmosphere. Many folks who do good go largely unnoticed in this world, for good reason. While those kicking up dirt shout, scream and denigrate others as they slowly sink into their own, lousy convictions.

Please know, the people protesting do consider those immigrants a vital part of their larger communities and they're allowed to kick up the same dirt in response to being shoved into walls by an administration. These immigrants are neighbors, friends, co-workers. They do care. I know plenty of chefs, restaurant owners, kindergarten teachers, doctors, lawyers...out exercising their rights to defend the civil liberties that are slowly dissipating. They aren't asking for a pat on the back, an award, or a big cash prize.

I hope you find that sort of love in your life at some juncture, that feeling of community...so that you can witness humans in their most natural form...espousing empathy and standing up for what is right and just in a world trying to tear down their kindness every chance it gets.

I'm going to keep on my bright path, rose colored glasses and all. No amount of doomsday scrolling is going to change my mind about the state of things. Though, I applaud you for your insistence that we're all just miserable freaks that would never lift a finger, let alone our couple of feet, to stand up to what we believe is high injustice.

Look no further than the growing number of mutual aid networks that are helping feed, house, clothe, change laws...all for free. Collective action. All the neighborhood food pantries popping up to bridge the gap and help those less fortunate. You'd be amazed if you actually saw all of the unpaid labor folks put in to help their fellow humans. And it feels great to live in that world, knowing that all the turmoil just moves to pull us closer together in the end even if the rhetoric would have us remain firmly in our individual bubbles, fear up to our eyeballs...ignorance seeping into every pore. I don't buy it. We're all far more alike than different and we love to be a part of something bigger, kinder and no amount of snow, or faint chill in the air, would separate us from our humanity. Most just throw on a parka and get on with it.

Very subjective and selective viewpoint.

Tell that to the homeless mother on the streets of BA that everyone just passes on by without a second thought.

You have had help but there are countless stories of those that didn't. Their viewpoint might be alittle off putting to your admitted rose colored attitude, so lets just sweep it under the rug.
