So, according to LN, the head of NAFIP, Echegaray, just bought his 18 year old daughter a brand new Audi A1 for her birthday.
How very grosso!
Now, I don't have a problem with how people spend their money.
If they have it they should enjoy it. That's what it's for.
Remember when Princess Diana bought herself a new Audi cabriolet? I do, and I remember the press furor.
The country almost went into panic because she didn't buy a Jag.
Here's a pretty picture for our delectation.

Buying a small Audi is just snobbish. The cost of that car doesn't justify the car you get. It's still an awesome piece of engineering but VW uses the same engine (I know I owned a VW TIguan and it had the same engine the Q3 uses). Quite frankly for the price of that car (still pretty but nothing special) he could have got her something so much more equipped that not only wouldn't raise so many eyebrows but would actually be safer and better. The bang for the buck when getting an Audi really starts with an A4 in my opinion. It's fully there with an A5+.

If he has that much money to blow on an import he should've purchased a Honda or Toyota.

I have an Audi A4 Cabriolet hanging out in my US garage. My 13-year old daughter asked me if she could have it when she turns 16. I told her pigs don't fly, that she can get a used Honda Civic if she helps on the payments so she can build some credit. She gave me that "did someone fart?" look.
