Nigger isn't a spanish word either as far as I know and is an extremely odd choice for labeling tomatoes which I've seen in many other places labeled as tomates morados considering that the offensive nature of that word is known far beyond the English speaking world.
Nigger means nothing in Spanish, and no, it is not offensive here at all, just like negro isn't, I can understand it gets your attention being an English speaker. I can assure you that outside of the city of BsAs, nobody has a clue about English offensive terms, such as this one, or f**k, etc.
I remember my husband was amused years ago when he first got here when seeing some brand names and street names.... Bimbo bread, Guido street, Barfy burgers, etc

Same thing happened to me the first time i saw this huge flat nose scania comming at me with a big ass sign on the windshield white background and big blue letters reading FAG, lmao that's all it said and for a split second i didn't know what to think( is he really that proud?) turns out FAG is brand name of shock absorbers for the commercial industry
I couldn't imagine myself driving a rig back home with a windshield sign reading PUTO , no matter what type of component brand name it is lol
