Is Argentina Still a Good Deal?

Today bought Ibuprofen 60 capsules and they were 31.000. This is $30 or £23. That’s disgustingly outrageous! What is that? There’s no way you can explain this with the inflation or economic conditions. Someone’s taking serious advantage of the situation. It’s not the same place anymore. You gotta watch out your expenses.
You probably didn't do too badly there.
This is the official price list for medications in Argentina

They rip you off for 600mg, buy 400mg and take 50% more of them 😀

I just bought 20 for 3000 about an hour ago, I think someone has taken advantage of you in this situation.

And these were 600's.

It was 600x50 at Farmacity on Santa Fe. Nowadays a lot of places taking advantage of me but medicine notoriously expensive in Argentina.

Many pharmacies will sell you the most expensive brand as the person behind the counter is often a salesperson and not a pharmacist. So, ask if there are generic brands available. Also, sometimes it's more economical to buy a larger dose and cut it with a pill cutter. Or combine smaller dosages.

I am friendly with the sales folks at both of the pharmacies which I patronize, and knowing that I cannot obtain medical insurance, they offer me generics whenever possible. As although most of my costs are (after a long wait) eventually reimbursed, I like to save Uncle Sam money whenever I can.

I never bothered before but now I realise that I have to get those credit/debit cards that offer discounts at restaurants and retail. Yesterday had sushi in Las Canitas and nothing crazy. No alcohol and it was 112.000. Had I had a Galicia debit card there’d be a 25% discount. Never cared about those discounts before but now it’s a must. If you have a prepaid Carrefour Mastercard, then everything is 15% off. If you can get a normal Carrefour credit card it’s 20%. I was talking to a friend who manages Airbnb flats and according to her; Airbnb is dead in BsAs. No tourist or digital nomads around with those prices.
