Is frozen spinach safe for smoothies??

I want to use frozen spinach to make smoothies (have got vomiting bug from greens at the bolivian verdulerias and don't live near a big supermarket ) Does anyone know if the packet frozen spinach is ok, ie has it been pasteurized or similar before freezing? Cheers!

Is spinach commonly pasteurized? That just seems icky....

I think part of the process for freezing spinach involves blanching. I have never had problems with frozen spinach here, but I always cook it before eating.
