Is it possible to get medical insurance without a DNI?

Does anyone know, have recommendations, regarding getting medical insurance without a DNI?

My understanding is private hospitals like the Alemana, Italian or Swiss hospitals offer insurance but not without an DNI. To make it more complicated, recent changes to law will require people to have insurnace to apply for residence. Seems like a catch-22 where you cannot get residence permit without insurnace but you cannot get insurance without a DNI.

My best guess is that, if those who apply for temporary residency are required to have medical insurance and they can't get it in Argentina without a DNI, migraciones will accept the same coverage issued by a foreign provider that the individual presented when they entered Argentina.

And if they were already in the country before the new requirement took effect, they should be able to get acceptabe coverage from a foreign provider that offers coverage for tourists.

I don’t have a DNI and just got insurance last month with Hospital Aleman using my passport. You don’t need a DNI there.

I have health insurance through Swiss Medical with my passport. My wife is a citizen, though. We started the account together, and I wasn’t added to an existing account. There were no challenges or issues when we signed up.

The only inconvenience is that my passport # was too long, so my Account/DNI number on Swiss Medical is truncated. I also have Universal Assistance, which is travel insurance. It seems like for both of these, they put your passport # in as DNI.

Anyone actually investigated getting OSDE or Italian Hospital ins coverage without a DNI??

OSDE Plans look amazing, and price is quite reasonable by NA standards.
Have glowing reports on their coverage from docs here at >/= 450 level, which the docs said covers all Italian Hosp expenses.
And they doubted pre-existing condition issues.

OSDE is great.
If you get it through an employer plan then I don't think preexisting conditions matter, but if you get it off the street I think you do have to go through a medical.
I think the only different between the 2XX plan and the higher plans, is primarily the number of units of plastic or cosmetic surgeries, and at the highest level I think travel insurance. So I think the 2XX plan is sufficient for most people.

Sorry I can't help you about the original question though. It might be difficult to get anything without a precaria at least.

Edit: Addition: The details regarding the differences in plan levels is what was explained to me. Confirm for yourself.
Edit 2: Argentinian travel insurance is exceptionally expensive and doesn't have as high limits as you would typically get. I would suggest IMG Global for travel insurance.

You can have OSDE coverage in neighbouring countries with plan 210 but you have to activate it, it’s not automatic.

Seems like it’s only emergency coverage tou pay and they reimburse you.
