My doctor here in the USA recommends a total knee replacement. Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of this type of surgery in Baires? I'm tentatively planning on going to Thailand in 2025 - trying to determine, quality and cost difference and how cost would compare with straight Medicare in the USA and Argentina or Thailand.

I had a two-story house in the USA which would be impossible to navigate after knee surgery, so I put it off.

My doctor here gave me gel injections which didn't seem to do anything, but then I saw a video saying that the gel injections really need real time imaging (hand held ultrasound I think)

Any recommendations for a knee doctor in Baires?

Guiermo arce is the best. Expensive. You will pay in dollars but he is top

Does anyone have any experience with getting knee gel injections in Baires?

The Hospital Italiano has the best Orthopaedics department in Argentina. Ask fpr a knee specialist.

Yes, do you have any idea how much they cost?

I'd like to find a doctor that uses imaging:

i have had both knees replaced. medicare covered it all. i first saw the new replacement in colombia where i was given the gel injection. it didnt work. colombia might be a good option. their medical like argentina is 75 percent and has good doctors. to remove the liquid on my knee, xray, gel injection was 450.00. a computer cuts the top of the bone for the new replacement. i am totally happy. i was told i could do anything i wanted to but didn’t recommend running marathons which i have done in the past. ironman triathlon 7 times including 3 world champion competitions

Good for you! Medicare covered all the knee replacement costs in the states? That's impressive.

neowonk. you dont need the best surgeon. you need a clean environment and a doctor with reasonable skills. the computer does the work. i would never have the old knee option. no shock absorbency. the new knee lets you keep all you existing ligaments and tendons. its only a cap on your bone with an insert to absorb shock. i believe you get a new patella to track with the replacement. good luck

johnny. its the one good thing about the us. once you qualify for medicare life is good. it costs about 300.00 per month and is deducted fron your social security payment. you get automatic cost of living increases . its been about 200.00 a year.
