La Cámpora In Argentina The Rise Of New Vanguard Generation

It's far too early to say La Cámpora and its allies have "institutionalized authoritarian rule." They're making it up as they go along, and will undermine themselves with their own incoherence. Still, they have done a lot of damage and will do more before they implode.

Hmmm... just read this in El País

Let's hope she will

But:

This doesn't address ''La Campora''. I agree that the idea of a new vanguard generation is a bit overblown. It's just the old Montenero spirit at work here.

The best possible outcome is that she finishes her term and goes quietly away. This country needs a no-drama institutional transition for once.

I love the conclusion of the article:

Like I have written yesterday, I have lost faith in Argentina's capacity to overcome this threat to democracy. It's becoming another copy of Hugo Chávez' authoritarian Venezuelan political system in just a few months.

I am glad this man openly writes about the fear that the coming elections will be rigged.

The desire to rig things may be there, but the smarts and finances to do so are questionable. La Cámpora lacks the petro-dollars to pass out that Chavismo could rely on. AeroCámpora is hemorrhaging money.

That's interesting, but are you sure that a lack of funds is the major barrier here?

Historically, Peronism relies on buying votes, and they don't have the kind of money that Hugo had - in fact they're having to import petroleum to keep the country running. The biggest problem here is that the opposition is so fragmented that opposition to Peronism is an insufficient organizing principle.

That paper simply added to what scraps I already knew and what my gut tells me.
A very unpleasant cocktail.
