Hi All,

Does anyone know a place where a fan for a sony vaio model vgn-cs215j can be replaced cheaply . My computer is overheating like crazy and I can't afford to buy a new one here, but I know the fan is the issue. So, if I could get that fixed that would be life-saving.

Thanks to all in advance!!!

Hi, the fan may be old or worn out but this is usually caused by a blocked cooling system...the sensor keeps the fan at a continuous high speed causing the added sound...but the fan may still be ok after you get the blockage cleared and the spinning is decreased..sometimes not...I have fixed many laptops with this type of problem.

Also, Lee made a good point about clearing the build up but just yesterday I found a fan that had a clump of built up lint that had been blown back into the fan....causing the fan to become damaged over time. The fan had to work with the added stress of an imbalanced spin due to the lump of lint that had become lodged into it...so it's ok to blow into the cooling system with high air pressure as long as it's in the early stages of the build up...not so good once it becomes a mass.
