Legalize It In Uruguay...

Remember it will be a government run monopoly staffed and managed by Uruguayan bureaucrats. If you currently get pleasure from dealing with mindless government rules, regulations, procedures and functionairies, you will love buying your dope from them even more. If you don't need it when you start, you will definately need it by the time you finish.

WOW! Good thinking Artigas. I had not thought of that--and I should have. My first thought is it would change the drug situation (gangs, etc) but there may be more afoot here. Oh dear, I was going off to work and here I am reading these golden words. Have a great day everybody. And artigas, good job!

Well at least you can get smashed out ya box while you are waiting for your next months supply, beats hanging about for hours in argie ques waiting to part with your pesos to some guv waste department.Peace man!!!!

Uruguay is generally bad at government sponsored sin, if you have ever been in a government run casino here, you would know why they lose money. After the government monopolizes marijuana, the next logical step here, I suppose, is a government run bordello monopoly staffed by civil service government appointees, with strict seniority rules.

Uruguay is no libertarian haven, and the marijuana law is little more than just another poorly thought out monopoly tax grab, not only will Amsterdam style sales still be illegal, any private sector competitors to the government monopoly are likely to face even greater police attention and repression. Just imagine Argentina with a government run wine monopoly.
