If anyone does want to visit Villa 31/Barrio Mugica without worrying about security, I can recommend the recorrido gastronómico organized by Ajayu Turismo Comunitario. It's organized by neighbors from the community, and in part of the tour the group has a police escort.

besides being a total idiot, this guy "Kurt" bases all his youtube vids on going to dangerous places, and, miraculosly, EVERY SINGLE TIME, not being killed or robbed. Its theater. My guess is he has paid advance men, finding him situations and people to "interview". Its called "poverty tourism", and he has been accused of using Ai to make his "dangerous adventures" look even more dangerous. According to him, London is far more dangerous than Buenos Aires.

no, I dont go wandering into villa 31.
But I live close by, and compared to most any city in the USA, its amazingly safe a few blocks from the villa.

Kurt Caz has been making these videos for years, certainly pre-dating any significant use of AI, in Africa, South America (mostly Colombia and Venezuela), and the Middle East, mostly in the company of decorative young ladies. I hadn't realized he'd been in Villa 31, I looked at Steve's link, and it seems like everyone was looking out for him there, from the police to the locals. It was a bit unusual to see him on his own.

His videos are definitely more clickbait, more for entertainment and less informative than, for example Gabriel Herrera or Luisito Comunica.

I didn't watch the posted video. But I walked 31 a few times about 2019. I was helping set up a charitable thing. It wasn't that big of a deal. There's a few police puestos. Exposed electrical wires that would scare any electrician in the developed world. There was a heladeria with the name "Fredo's" (note one "d" not two). There's a local church. People mostly mind their own business.

I dont say he used Ai before it existed- just that he has been pretty convincingly accused of using it recently to make his videos look scarier.
again, its not journalism, its not researched- its theater. Its a scary movie, and the hero always wins.

I actually met some one, a few years ago, who rented an apartment in a villa. He was a pretty normal argentine 20 something, not rich, didnt have expensive belongings he was worried about. It was the one at the south end of puerto madero, near boca. He was perfectly happy, the rent was lower than san telmo, and he lived there for a while, without issues. certainly there are criminals in the villas. But there are bigger criminals, who steal much more, in Pilar, they just look nicer.
